Arnold Bray (1892-1972) was born in Odessa, Russia on February 22, 1892. Bray settled in San Francisco with his family in 1902. He studied art at the California School of Fine Arts and taught at that school circa 1917. He assisted Lucien Labaudt in the frescoes at the Beach Chalet (San Francisco) where Labaudt painted a portrait of Bray into the mural. For 40 years he worked as a draftsman at Kaiser Shipyards while maintaining a residence at 1155 Divisadero Street. His last three years were spent in a convalescent hospital in Fairfield, California; he died there on June 28, 1972. His work includes oils and etchings of the San Francisco Bay area, portraits, and landscapes. Exhibited: San Francisco Art Ass'n, 1923-31; California Artists at California.
