1905 - 1994
Helen Snyder Wood was born in Berkeley, California on July 29, 1905, the daughter of Christopher Snyder who was construction engineer for the San Francisco Museum of Art, Coit Tower, San Francisco City Hall and other civic buildings. After graduating from Berkeley High School, Helen enrolled at the California College of Arts and Crafts where she received a bachelor of arts degree in 1927. Her early works were mostly landscapes; whereas she later specialized in "fantasies" and still lifes with figurines in oil, watercolor, and pen-and-ink. Mrs. Wood exhibited locally and won numerous awards. A lifelong resident of Berkeley, she died there on March 19, 1994.
