Russell William Swan was born in Wanamingo, Minnesota of Swedish parents on March 15, 1908. He moved to southern California in 1923. He studied at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles and the Carmel Institute of Art under John Cunningham. He died in Monterey, California on March 16, 1963. An Impressionist, he is best known for his desert landscapes and harbor scenes of Monterey Bay. Member: Carmel Art Ass'n; Laguna Beach Art Ass'n; Society of Western Artists.
