Nellie Burrell SCOTT
1856 - 1913

Nellie E. Burrell was born in Sacramento, California on August 27, 1856, the daughter of Dr. Charles Burrell. Nellie studied in San Francisco at the School of Design and Partington Art School. She married Wisner Scott in 1901 and remained a resident of San Francisco until her death on November 17, 1913. One of early California's finest still-life specialists, her subjects include fruit, flowers, and fish in action, especially trout of the Sierra. Exhibited: San Francisco Art Ass'n, 1883; Mechanics' Institute, 1893; California State Fair, 1899; Alaska-Yukon Expo (Seattle), 1909.
