Hartwell Paul O'BRYNE
1893 - 1966
Hartwell Paul O'Bryne was born in Mountain View, California on December 21, 1893. He studied at University of California at Berkeley and was greatly influenced by Dong Kingman. During the 1930s he worked as a commercial artist and headed an art project for the Works Progress Administration. After World War Two he abandoned commercial work but continued to paint in his leisure. His subjects include landscapes, maritime subjects, and farm scenes. A resident of San Francisco most of his life, he died there on December 21, 1966. Member: San Francisco Art Ass'n.
