1910 - 1969
James Harrison Forman (1910-1969) was born in San Francisco, California on September 22, 1910. During the 1930s he was a resident of his native city and active in the local art scene. He was a member of the Thirteen Watercolorists (founded by Maurice Logan and Maynard Dixon). While earning his living at commercial illustration, in his leisure he painted watercolors of the Mother Lode country, urban scenes of the San Francisco Bay area, and landscapes from Mendocino to Mexico. Forman died in San Mateo, California on December 31, 1969. Member: Family Club (San Francisco); California Watercolor Society. Exhibited: Gump's (San Francisco), 1938; Oakland Art Gallery, 1939; Golden Gate International Exposition, 1939; San Francisco Art Ass'n, 1939-40. Works held: Family Club.
