Antoinette DeForest Parsons Merwin was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 27, 1861. She studied at Art Students League in New York City, St Paul School of Fine Arts, and in Paris with Courtois, Collin, and Whistler. For several years she was a resident of Montclair, New Jersey before moving to California. She was active in Los Angeles from the 1920s until her death on June 13, 1941. Exhibited: Exposition Universelle (Paris), 1900; Painters & Sculptors of Los Angeles, 1922; California Art Club, 1924-28; Pasadena Art Ass'n, 1925-28; California State Fair, 1930. Works held: Boston Art Club; Cuyamaca Club (San Diego).
