Albert Clinton CONNER
1848 - 1929

Albert Clinton Conner was born in Fountain City, Indiana on September 5, 1848. He was a self-taught painter who spent most of his career in Indiana. He moved to the Los Angeles area about 1902 and began exhibiting in the local galleries. Numerous paintings are extant of the coast near Manhattan Beach where, in 1912, he was elected city treasurer of the newly incorporated town. Conner was active in southern California until his death in Manhattan Beach on April 13, 1929. Member: California Art Club. Exhibited: Ruskin Art Club (Los Angeles), 1905; San Francisco Art Ass'n, 1911-13; Gardena (CA) High School, 1933. Works held: Manhattan Beach Historical Society; Santa Fe Railway.
