Edward LESLIE
1891 - 1960
Edward Leslie (né Edward Leslie Smith) was born in Oakland, California on February 3, 1891. He worked in San Francisco during the 1920s. For many years he worked as an advertising agent for the Progress Printing Company. During the 1930s he established the Student Art Center in Oakland where he taught commercial art. As well as an artist, he was also an accomplished musician who formed the group which later became the Oakland Symphony. Leslie died in Marin County, California on November 1, 1960.
