1895 - 1992
Leonide Martinon was born in San Francisco, CA on November 12, 1895. Leonide began drawing at age eight while attending public schools. At age fifteen she studied art at the San Francisco Institute of Art and continued for two years at Académie Julian in Paris. She married attorney Renato Capocelli in 1914 and established a home in Pacific Heights where she maintained a studio. Working in oil and watercolor, she produced still lifes, landscapes, scenes of San Francisco and from her European travels. A lifelong resident of her native city, she died on February 24, 1992. Exhibited: Palace of Fine Arts, 1916; San Francisco Art Ass'n from 1916; Society of Western Artists, California Palace of Legion of Honor, 1941, 1945.
